May 3rd, 3. This update represents a complete overhaul of the core PowerShell engine of PowerShell Editor Services, intending to create a more reliable and stable user experience. It is our response to many issues opened by users over the last several years. Thank you to all of the community members who opened issues which helped motivate this major update. These major updates have also been tested over the last 6 months, in 13 releases of our PowerShell Preview extension for Visual Studio Code.
A huge thank you to all of the community members who have tested these changes to the extension and have worked with us to polish the extension before releasing it through our stable channel. For information on getting started with the PowerShell extension for Visual Studio Code refer to our documentation. For a complete list of changes please refer to our changelog. We began our work for this update with the following goals for the release to our stable extension.
To accomplish these goals we focused on the threading model for the extension. Previously the Integrated Console, the shell that is provided by the PowerShell extension, was run by setting threadpool tasks on a shared main runspace, and where LSP, Language Server Protocol, servicing was done with PowerShell idle events. This lead to overhead, threading issues and a complex implementation intended to work around the asymmetry between PowerShell as a synchronous, single-threaded runtime and a language server as an asynchronous, multi-threaded service.
This prevents an entire class of race conditions, leading to more reliable and bug-free code. We also get more efficiency because we can directly call PowerShell APIs and code written in C from this thread, without the overhead of a PowerShell pipeline.
This change has overhauled how we service LSP requests, how the Integrated Console works, how PSReadLine is integrated, how debugging is implemented, how remoting is handled, and a long tail of other features in PowerShell Editor Services.
Also, in making it, while 6, lines of code were added, we removed 12,, for a more maintainable, more efficient and easier to understand extension backend. Beyond this release our intention is to remain focused on incremental improvements to the stability, reliability, and consistency of the extension.
These next work items are enumerated in our GitHub Projects. While we hope the new implementation provides a much better user experience, there are bound to be issues. Please let us know if you run into anything. If you encounter any issues with the PowerShell extension in Visual Studio Code or have feature requests, the best place to get support is through our GitHub repository.

The Get-CsPoolUpgradeReadinessState cmdlet also returns information about the upgrade domains in the pool, and about which front-end servers are in each upgrade domain. If the ReadyforUpgrade value for the upgrade domain that contains the server that you want to upgrade is True , you can upgrade the server.
To do this, you must follow these steps:. Run the Cumulative Server Update Installer by using the UI or by using a command to upgrade the front-end servers that are associated with an upgrade domain. The poor sales of the ARM-based Surface tablet had been credited to the continuing market dominance of Microsoft's competitors in the tablet market. Particularly, Apple's iPad retained its dominance due its App store offering the most tablet-optimized applications. Most OEMs opted to produce tablets running Google Android, which came in a wide variety of sizes and prices albeit with mixed success among most OEMs , and Google Play had the second-largest selection of tablet applications.
By contrast there was a limited amount of software designed specifically for Surface's operating system, Windows RT, the selection which was even weaker than Windows Phone. Microsoft's subsequent efforts have been focused upon refining the Surface Pro and making it a viable competitor in the premium ultra-mobile PC category, against other Ultrabooks and the MacBook Air , while discontinuing development of ARM-powered Surface devices as the Surface 3 non-Pro had an Intel x86 CPU albeit with lower performance than the Surface Pro 3.
The resultant Surface Pro 3 succeeded in garnering a great interest in the Surface line, making Surface business profitable for the first time in fiscal year Q1 Users on Microsoft's support forum reported that some Touch Covers were splitting at the seam where it connects to the tablet, exposing its wiring.
A Microsoft spokesperson stated that the company was aware of the issue, and would offer free replacements for those who have been affected by the defect.
Firmware updates that attempted to fix the problem were released, but some users still reported problems like blue screen errors while watching video and crash of display driver. With the original Surface Pro, Microsoft acknowledged issues encountered by some users with its stylus pen, including intermittent pen failures, and with older applications that do not have complete pen support due to the different APIs used by Surface Pro's stylus drivers. In the latter case, Microsoft has indicated that it is working with software vendors to ensure better compatibility.
